Bird Diary Videos

Here are some additional videos in avi format.

This is a video of the male bird taking a meal worm from the feeder.  It is 559k and lasts 9 seconds.
This one shows one of the parents entering the nest and feeding a chick.  It then collects a faecal sac and leaves.  It is 528k and lasts 14 seconds.

The Exodus
Here are the videos of each chick in turn leaving the nest. Most show inside and outside shots; some are silent to save space. The content has been drastically edited to shorten the time that each chick took to make up its mind. Some show one or other of the parents tempting them out. This gets more obvious towards the end; when their patience wears thin, maybe? Many appear similar but they are all the actual footage of each chick.

Thursday, 14th of June.

he countdown begins.  Here is the first chick to leave the nest at 7.45am. Mum is feeding it at the nest hole to encourage it to come.  It is 302k and 16 seconds. Size: 302k 16 seconds)

The second went at 9.05am.  (Size: 420k 7 seconds)

Friday, 15th of June.
The third left this morning at 7.07am. (Size: 276k and 16 seconds)
The fourth at 7.17am.  (Size: 260k and 12 seconds)
The fifth at 10.45am.  (Size: 220k and 9 seconds)
Saturday, 16th of June

he sixth went at 7.04am. The male bird came to the nest hole and teased the chick with some tasty morsel in an attempt to get it out.  (Size: 774k and 41 seconds)
The seventh at 7.30am.  Once again Dad come to urge the  departure.  (Size: 513k and 16seconds)
The eighth at 7.35am. Dad again is needed to offer encouragement.  (Size: 178k and 23 seconds)
And the last to leave, went at 739.am.  I apologise for the wobbly pictures on this one.  I wanted to get it in flight but had to wait ages and had trouble getting propped against anything.  (Size: 247k and 9 seconds)
