Even more birds

On Wednesday, 13th August, 2003, we saw a brand new visitor to our bird feeding station.  It was this woodpecker.  There are larger versions of the pictures if you click on them.

It stayed on the sunflower seed for several minutes and then spent some time hopping up and down the feeder, trying to work out how to get onto the peanut feeder which is surrounded by a hoop of green garden mesh.  You can see the mesh in the first photo. It realised that it was too big to get through the mesh and eventually opted to 'go over the top.'
