I have had a major system failure which has meant that I have lost not only the rest of the diary for 2006 but also the backup that I had kept.

As I hadn't noticed, I used what I thought was a backup to re-publish my complete web.  Unfortunately, this over-wrote the files that were on the server and so I lost everything.

All I can say is that all eight chicks fledged successfully and were all seen around the garden for some time afterwards.

This was such a relief after the disaster of 2005.  I apologise that the diary is incomplete but there is little point in trying to concoct a substitute version at this late stage.
