ORGANISERS REPORT

Well done to the medal winners, there were some highlights from an excellent result!

Neil, Paul and Joanne “raising the bar” in the Recurve bow classes, recorded some of the best Championship scores of recent years. 

The Barebow winners did their best to prove that a sight is an unnecessary luxury! Marek, Hywel, Rick and Victoria again produced scores which would have taken medals in the Recurve classes.

With equal scores at the finish, Andrew managed to lift Compound Unlimited Trophy Compound by scoring 32 inner ten golds, one more than Bryan in second place. Disappointingly there were no Lady compound entries this year.

Stuart added the Longbow Trophy to his recent Welsh Trophy, Cyril finally relinquishing the Trophy since he donated it in 2008.

Junior entries were down across the bow classes but those that shot put in good performances. Of particular note, Jessica Davies, shooting in the youngest age group, won the overall Junior Lady Trophy with Wil Richardson taking the overall Junior Gent Trophy. Encouragingly, these were the best Championship scores of recent years.

I understand that several archers achieved personal best scores and could rightly be proud of their achievement on the day. Classification Medals, although not awarded at the time, are shown on the results. I will get them to the winners.

Scoring was much better this year. Thank you to those who gave their time to check and collect scores. It was a great help in getting the result finalised quickly.

There were a small number of addition errors found. If you noted your score from the sheet, you may find the final total appears to be slightly different on the result, however, the result is correct.

We hope you had a good day, it seemed to go well with three sessions. If you have any comments please let me know, the event is organised for the benefit of club and county members and we want you to enjoy the day.

The Outdoor Championship should be held on the first Sunday in July - try and keep that date free.

As a competitor on Sunday, I should like to congratulate Chris and Sue Brown for their hard work in organising and running the event. I am quite sure that anyone who attended would like to add their thanks, too.

Also, I am sure we would all like to thank Fort Archers and all the volunteers who helped to make the day such a success.
