THE PEMBROKE COMPANY OF ARCHERS
A BRIEF REPORT
We were really pleased with the response and entry for our
Hereford Invitation shoot this year. The shoot was full before the closing date!
Even with our limited target space, that’s a first!
Apologies to those we couldn’t accommodate who applied to shoot. The
full target list included entries from six of the Dyfed county clubs. Although
established as a senior shoot, there were also four junior archers who shared
one Bristol III target.
The day went well, kept under control by Club Field Captain and Judge for the
day, Dave Cochlin.
The efforts of the members in field preparation and set up were greatly
appreciated, and the non shooting team of Phil, George (still shooting at 87
years young), Karl and Robyn made sure that the day ran smoothly.
Thanks also to Kinga Klorek, a Polish archer and judge (and so young!), who was
Lady Paramount for the day. Maybe
the competition for awards would have been greater if we had announced “Medals
and a kiss” for winners!
The traditional “Pembroke Shoot Weather” returned this year and we enjoyed a
dry day, some wind but of no consequence on our sheltered ground.
The shooting was of a high standard. Ryszard Janiszewski won the Gents Recurve
trophy with a score of 1130. There were several scores over the 1000 mark, some
good gent’s First Class scores and
also some very respectable scores from the Fort Archers who had previously only
shot 80 yards to obtain their sight marks!
Wayne Morgan’s Compound score of 1216 again kept the standard in that
class over 1200.
Some minor score sheet addition errors were corrected for
the final Result listing; placings are unaffected.
There were four scores which appear to be good Dyfed county record claims,
subject to claiming and verification: -
Austin Shackles - Gents Barebow (the first three Gents Barebow archers all exceeded the existing Hereford record), Louise Jones - Ladies Compound, Gavin Phillips - Bristol III Junior Boy U18 R/C & Ben Hughes - Junior Boy U14 BB.
Finally thanks to all who attended and helped make an enjoyable shoot for
everyone, all Pembroke club members really appreciate this year’s support for
the event.
With regards and keep up the good shooting
Chris Brown
Pembroke Company of Archers Club Secretary.
From the Chairman
I should like to add my thanks to everyone involved, whether shooting or helping. In particular, I should like to record my thanks to David, George, Phil, Karl and Robyn. All of them gave up their chance to shoot in order to help with the scoring and other essential duties. I apologise that I didn’t acknowledge their commitment at the award ceremony.
Dave Hall
Chairman
