Robyn's Canal Diary (cont)
Monday, 6th August.
Granddad gave Grandma a
cup of tea at about 8 o'clock but I didn't wake up till after 8.30. Granddad
used the bathroom first. Granddad and I wrote the diary while Grandma got washed
and dressed. Then Granddad made breakfast. I had hot dogs and scrambled
egg.
After breakfast we all went shopping in a town called Stone. I bought a present
for Mummy and had a humungous strawberry milk-shake made with real
strawberries. It was so big that Grandma had to finish it. Next, we
went back to the boat and started off again. We stopped for lunch and
Granddad and I did some more fishing. We caught nine fish and one was huge!
It started to pour with rain so we watched ‘The Court Jester’ on a video
until it stopped and then we chugged on again. As we were going along, I did
some painting and drawing. We went through some more locks and at one of them,
Grandma knocked the chimney off the roof into the canal. We found it by
using a very strong magnet on a piece of rope. We stopped just outside the lock
and had roast chicken with pasta for supper.
After supper, Granddad set up the television and we watched some of the
programmes. Then I went to bed and Grandma stayed in my bed until I was asleep.
