Robyn's Page

In August, 2001, we took Robyn on a narrow boat along the Trent and Mersey canal.  The boat belongs to our good friends, Don and Jill Allison of Newport Pagnell.  It's a 42 footer with all mod cons.  It was Robyn's first stay on the Cyrus Lily although she has had a ride on it before.
During our stay, we encouraged Robyn to keep a diary.  She did this with varying amounts of help from Granddad.

Robyn's Canal Diary

Friday 3rd August.

Mummy and I stayed with Auntie Anne. When we came home, we had breakfast with Grandma an Granddad.  After breakfast, Granddad went shopping for a fishing rod for us to use on the canal boat.  We loaded the car and set off.  I slept in the car. We found the boat and unloaded the car.  Next, we had lunch on the boat. We fed some very big fish with bread.  They were called carp. Then we went shopping.  We had dinner in a pub. I had lasagne. Then we all went to bed.

Saturday, 4th August.

I had a good sleep and Granddad made me some warm milk when I woke up at half past seven.  I got washed and dressed and then we all had breakfast. I had two hot dogs and some scrambled egg.  After breakfast, we went shopping.  I got a new teddy and his name is Butterberry. Grandma bought some trousers and then we bought some food.
We went back to the boat and set off along the canal. We stopped for lunch after the first lock and then went on again. I drove the boat with Granddad.
It started to rain as well.  We went through a lot of locks and went down and down and down.  We had to go under some funny bridges that Grandma had to wind up.  We stopped for supper in Stoke-On-Trent. We had sausages, spaghetti hoops and bacon.  After supper I played dominoes with Granddad and then we wrote the diary and I got ready for bed.
